Thanks to ralphy who alerted to me to a new source, I have modified the scraper to include episode data and grenres!

Hurraah!

I modded the scraper to include 2 new columns (for episode and genre) for those that know what they are doing.

Also, I know most of you dont care about fancy configurations (nor do I to be honest!) I have automatically included the ‘episode’ field in the descriptions of the programmes. I know we have a few hundred people using this that might like episode data!

If you are a purist and want to separate your episodes from the descriptions, you can turn this OFF off if you use this flag in your tvxb.ini file:

episodeInDescriptions=false

For example:

[STARSports]
service=STAR Sports
channel=273
url=http://www.sgmce.com/tvxb_starhub.php?channelId=21&date=[day=yyyymmdd]&detailedDescriptions=false
start=3
stop=4
title=1
description=2

This way people can turn off the episode number for channels where its irrelevant (say for sports programmes where starhub insists on numbering episodes)

Let me know if you are using this!

Alex

I’m an MCE user since the days of XP MCE in Singapore and have always struggled with the zero-support for/from our local providers! With the recent change by both Mediacorp (switching from their old EPG to the new xinmsn ajax guide) and now with Starhub screwing with all of our lives mixing up all the channels and launching a new guid of their own) I was stuck without a guide for my windows Vista and Windows 7 Media Centre setups and a very unhappy family…

I wrote a few server-side scripts to scrape the data from the new guides into a simple format that TVXB can read and now have my Mediacorp and Starhub EPG back up and running! I figure after all my searches others were hurting too and I set up this blog to share my quick fix with others. Hopefully I’ll also learn more about how others are using their MCE setups here in SG!

Next post: New TVXB.ini files for Vista and Windows 7 for Mediacorp & Starhub. Stay tuned!
